Morphl is a free daily word ladder puzzle. Change one letter at a time to turn a start word into a target word, with every step a real word. Each puzzle has a par, like golf.
The word ladder itself isn't new — Lewis Carroll invented the puzzle in 1877, asking readers to turn WHEAT into BREAD one letter at a time. Morphl takes that same idea and turns it into a daily habit, with a par-based score — birdie, par, or bogey — so every puzzle rewards not just finishing, but finishing efficiently.
Rather than a single puzzle format, Morphl applies the one-letter-at-a-time rule across a full suite of modes: routing puzzles, discovery puzzles, an endless chain-builder, and real-time arcade modes where falling words have to be zapped before they hit the bottom. See every mode for the full list, or how to play for the core rules.
